Chiaro, Watercolour and Collage
After an Honours Degree in Fine Art from the University of Reading, I taught art and printmaking in schools and colleges in London for thirty years.

From 1996 – 1998 postgraduate studies at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston USA gave me an opportunity to develop a long held interest in abstract art and introduced me to the work of Hans Hofmann and Anne Ryan..

My paintings are abstract watercolours with collage. The simple square relates to the overall ground and offers no distraction from the complex interplay of colours. They are emotional responses to the familiar bringing a sense of discovery and order to daily events such as the weather or the time of day..

Since moving to Devon in 2002 I have been involved in Open Studios, firstly as a Board Member of Devon Artist Network for five years and currently as Chair of Totnes and Dartington Open Studios..

I have participated in many exhibitions including the Royal Academy London, the Mall Galleries and several times at the Royal West of England Academy, Bristol. My work is in private and public collections in the UK and USA.
