Honorary Academician, Alan Cotton supporting Academy's Patron with charity event

Dame Floella Benjamin, our Patron at SWAc, is also Patron of the UK based Transplant Links Community, (TLC), that saves the lives of children and adults in the developing world, who suffer from fatal kidney disease. Lady Benjamin was herself present at a kidney transplant operation recently.

The charity ‘Deck of Cards’ event is to raise money to provide funds for the training of surgeons, doctors and nurses. Fifty two invited artists were given a card from the deck, (mine was the six of diamonds), to create an original art work, which will be auctioned next spring.  The designs will also be made into packs of cards which will be sold to help raise money for this life-saving project. I was very happy to be involved.
