I think that I have always been an artist. Throughout my childhood it was something I always did, selling my first oil in a gallery in 1974, I was 16 years old. Since leaving school I painted and exhibited whilst working in the print trade up until 1989 when I began painting full-time.

Drawing is a large part of what I do and I aim to have the 'line' evident in my paintings. I like colour and creating the sensation of light, especially on water and how certain colours react together. I am continually striving for something which is hard to put one's finger on. It's not only visual but something inside which I want to become visual. It's finding ways to describe the feeling and the emotion one feels about your chosen subject that keeps me going. That may mean changing the way I paint and or choosing new subjects, it's a continual process of development and I believe painting honestly is the way forward. If you feel it, paint it!
