Kevin Wright SWAc
Kevin Wright’s work is mainly in the medium of printmaking, particularly etching and aquatint on copper plate. He works from his print studio in Galmpton, near the River Dart. His work reflects his interest in Romanticism and its relation to Nature. The moors, rivers and coastline of the West Country inspire his work. He also focuses on cities such as London and Venice, seeking to capture the moments when the blur of restless activity evaporates and stillness descends.
He was born in Torquay and studied at Torquay School of Art, Newton Abbot Art School and Newport College of Art. He obtained his Masters degree at Goldsmiths College, and a Masters degree in History of Art at Birkbeck College, University of London.
Kevin initially worked as an art teacher in London and was later appointed as art advisor to schools there. In that role he also worked on educational projects with major galleries such as the Royal Academy. Later, as an education consultant, he worked for the State of New York, Botswana and all seven of the Emirates.
His work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy, Mall Galleries, Society for Graphic Fine Art, Royal West of England Academy, South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts, the Contemporary Print Show, Barbican Gallery and at a number of galleries in the UK; also in galleries in Italy and Germany. His work is held at Southbank Printmakers Gallery, London.
